.now reading: The Great Gatsby ~ by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Oh yes. The Face Of Boe.
There are a million and one things that I can say on the subject as I sit back, relax and think to myself. One, believe it or not - which, trust me, isn't that hard when you think about it really hard - the Face of Boe is Jack. Jack is the Face Of Boe. One big head in a jar - no wonder no one recognized him - is our crazy, innuendo filled 54th century Captain. All knowing, wise, mature, loving Face of Boe is in fact Captain Jack Harkness. We all know he is not human - but rather an alien. Has it sunk in yet? Was it Bad Wolf/Rose who changed him, or was he supposed to be the Face of Boe all along and Bad Wolf/Rose only helped him along with the eternity process? And why did he die? I think I know the answer to at least some of these questions, but,um, any theories over there? any takers? What I'm wondering is why did Boe not tell the Doctor - in the rare times they met - who he really was? Fear of rifts or paradoxes? The element of surprise? Or is it just because the people at BBC hadn't even figured out who exactly the Face Of Boe was just yet when they wrote the second series?
Personally, I think it's a little bit of all three.
If I bash any character in the Doctor Who universe, it is strictly constructive criticism.
